Day 4: Kickboxing, finally ;)
October 3, 2009
Don’t have time to elaborate, ‘cuz I have to hit the shower and get to work!
I did 20 minutes of kickboxing. Refreshing. But it was tempting not to. Made me want to ask a question:
“What are reasons/excuses you give to keep you from exercising?”
Throw them out there. I’ll give you mine tomorrow.
Yes, I ate at Denny’s. For some reason, this Denny’s does not have the whole wheat pancakes advertised in the menu. What a scam
But I ate 2 regular ones with most of the butter removed, sugar free syrup, egg whites and chicken sausage. I KNOW the sausage isn’t low fat, the eggs were probably cooked in butter (they were too yummy), and of course white flour and sugar isn’t good, not to mention that pancakes are fried on oil or butter…
But it was good. It was a treat. And I’ll make sure that the rest of my weekend accommodates for it. That’s the key…finding balance.
Tonight: I think we’re picking up salads on the way to visit Grandma. Should be easy to keep healthy. Wish I had time to make my “secret weapon” cupcakes, as my husband calls them. I’d tell you the secret, but then I’d have to kill you…

Good job, and good decision. You’re doing awesome!

Reasons I don’t exercise:
1. I have never been an active/sporty person.
2. My little boys always want to come down and “help” me.
3. I get started with my day and if I don’t do it in the morning it wont’t get done.
4. I live in the country and the closest gym with childcare is 30min away…that just dosen’t seem right – drive 30min so you can exercise 30min.
5. I still don’ like to sweat – I’ll do it now but in years past as soon as I started to sweat that was the end of that.
I really do want to lose 15lbs by Christmas. My first 2 goals are 1) cut out night time eating…I need to turn the trough off by 7pm. 2) Exercise 30 -45 min 4-5 days a week.
Keep going!!!

I think you have so many legitimate reasons. I’m with ya on 1 & 5, and can totally understand the rest. Do you have anything new to try at home? That may make it more fun. Do you like to dance?

angie…where are you? i need you! i had a grace day yesterday, do we have those? i’m thinking my commitment might have to be 5-6 days/week vs. 7. i’ll shoot for 7 but we’ll see. i did go for almost an hour long walk today. felt good to be outside! someone asked earlier about nutritious snack ideas. i just bought some individual 100 calorie packages of craisins at walmart. instead of grabbing a pack of my son’s fruit snack that i love, i’m trying to eat some dried fruit instead. i also need to stop the evening snacking! i am the worst in the evenings!

I’m here! Sorry for the delay. But I understand on the 5-6 commitment. We have to be realistic, because if we overshoot, we’ll end up not doing anything. Good idea on the fruit. Certainly more nutrition. My sister would probably say they’re still pretty high in sugar…You know what she recommends: dried cherries and almonds. Packed with good stuff…there’s a lot of research coming out about cherries. And of course, almonds are a really good for you fat, that helps curb cravings, and they’re packed with calcium and other goodies. Have to admit I’m not always in the mood for almonds, and you really have to budget your portion (with the cherries…I could eat a big handful!)…calories can get out of control, especially during a losing phase, versus maintenance. Anyhoo…
I won’t be at PACC until Friday, so I won’t see you in person. Keep up the good work!

Ummm, also, I just realized that I gave no justification as to why you should care what my sister says about cherries and almonds or craisins. She’s a registered dietician.
